History of IPL
Indian Premium League is a professional men’s twenty20 cricket league. It is also known as TATA IPL for sponsorship reasons. Annually 10 teams based out of seven Indian cities and three Indian states, participated in this league. It is usually held between the month of March and May. In 2007, this league was established by the Board of control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Currently, Brijesh Patel is the Chairman of IPL.
BCCI announced the establishment of IPL when the Indian cricket team won the twenty20 World Cup in 2007. The first edition was played in 2008 and since then IPL has become the most attended cricket league in the World. IPL was ranked 6th by average attendance among all sports leagues in 2014 and in 2010 it became the first sporting event to be broadcast live on YouTube.

Mumbai Indians won the title 5 times, Chennai Super Kings won four titles and Kolkata Knight Riders won two titles.
Who is the current Champion of the IPL?
The IPL 15 was sponsored by the TATA group and won by Gujrat Titans. IPL 2022 was played from March 26, 2022, to May 29, 2022. The match venues for the 15th season were Maharashtra, Mumbai, and Pune. Two additional teams participated in the previous season and this was the second season to have 10 teams. Chennai Super Kings were the defending champions but could not make it to the finals.
In the final, Gujrat Titans defeated Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets with 11 balls remaining. Hardik Pandya, the captain of the Titans, won the award ‘Player of the match’.
